South Tyrol

A Land of Great Diversity

South Tyrol's History

The region and its culture are characterized by rural farming. Countless castles and fortresses bear impressive witness to its historical importance as an Alpine crossing. And the cities are always aware of their significance as trade and transport hubs.

South Tyrol, the region between Brenner and Salurn, belonged to Austria until the First World War. During the peace negotiations of the First World War, the region was awarded to Italy and subsequently Italianized.

Delights in South Tyrol

The symbiosis of two cultures is also evident in the cuisine. The menu features Tyrolean, rustic cuisine, and Mediterranean dishes.

And don't forget the "Törggelen":  Enjoying a wonderful time in the cozy atmosphere of a "Stub'n" with traditional, finely prepared food and wonderful South Tyrolean wine. Unforgettable!

South Tyrolean quality products include apples, grapes, chestnuts, Schüttelbrot, speck, honey, wine, grappa, and much more.
